Indoor air quality and waterproofing, what do they have in common. Well for over 26 years now I have been repairing foundations and have found that there is a significance correlation between water in the home and indoor air quality.
The air you breathe over and over again comes from the basement. So when water comes in through the foundation and get dry wall and other items wet Mold starts to grow. Water in the basement can cause mold to grow with in 24-48 hours and with humidity levels high ( above 50%) mold can grow even sooner. Studies have now shown that the quality in the air we breathe inside has become more toxic since the 1980′s due to the increase of energy savings. We are adding more insulation to attic spaces, sealing up crawl spaces and exchanging the same air over and over again.
We need to add fresh air into our environments. With the use of air exchangers and sub floor suction fans we can increase the exchange of air and improve our air quality. KC Waterproofing can help improve your indoor air quality by drying out that wet basement, cleaning and removing mold. Also when is the last time you had your HVAC cleaned?
If you or any of your family members are experiencing trouble breathing or feel bad at home and better when away then call KC waterproofing, for an indoor air quality assessment.
